Description
At eighteen feet wide,
This crustacean rules the Deep.
If you hate bugs you won’t sleep,
For you can’t catch me,
All forty-four pounds of meat.
My joints are stronger
And my legs are even longer.
You have gotten me wrong- I’m
One hundred years old.
I am here to haunt you in dreams
As an enigma,
A crabby machine.
I am like a king
Held in great demand on land,
A delicacy,
Honshu Island’s best,
That puts fishers to the test.
My claws will defend
From men to the bitter end
With strength at arms’ length.
Tarantulas are proud
Of this crab – their reflection –
The spider of the deep!
